What exactly is a vehicle crossing?
It's the section of driveway between your property line and the road — over the nature strip, footpath and kerb. It sits on council land, which is why it needs a council permit and has to be built to the council's own specification, not just poured like a normal driveway.
Do I really need a permit?
Yes — for a new crossing, a replacement, a widening, or removing one. Every Melbourne council requires it, and most inspect the formwork before the pour and the finished job after. Skip the permit and council can make you rip it out at your cost.
Who deals with the council?
We do. The application, the layout plan, our insurance certificates, booking the pre-pour and final inspections — that's all part of the job. You'll only hear from us, not the council.
How much does a crossover cost?

How long does it take?
